Over the past few weeks (well since day one tbh) ive played my cleric to lvl 30 and raised my crafting skill ( Armour/Blacksmith) to lvl 33. I have visited many Online sites/Forums.
There generally seems to be a wide variety of opinions and subjects ranging from Help/assistance topics to Add this / Nerf that. But one of the most common topics is " What do we do now". Over the last two weeks my friends list has steadily become less active. Many people on my list simply do not log in anymore. People i would see everyday crafting, cant be bothered because they feel that there is no point to it at all (including me) Many people who used to come for Adventuring are saying there is no content, or what content there is, appears to be either broken or pointless, trivial quest lines that offer little or no rewards for the time and effort put in. From a crafting point of view, i simply dont bother anymore, as the broker is awash with Armour that was made and sold a month ago, at a pittance of the price it is worth spending the time and effort to make, as none of it was soulbound so put up for sale by the several owners it has had sine it was made. And, of course, alternatives are so easy to farm that only very few crafting professions are actually going to be viable (and these wont be for long as crafters change trades to make money). Loads of discussion has been held over PvP and that fact that , although included in the game, it is not centric to game play, even on pvp servers. Little of it works the way most PvP orientated players would wish it to and those people have also drifted away. To round up this post, i would like to say that the concept was a good one, but as like so many good games concepts, if they are implemented in the way this game has been, with so many , many broken games features, or even features that the game was advertised on, simply missing, its no wonder my friends list is getting less and less active. I have just downloaded and played a well known (Open beta) MMo for 3 days. Played it at a ping of 57ms without lag spikes, without getting Disconnected randomly for no reason, or for that matter, at all. The quests work, the crafting works, the classes work and im yet to find a bug. With competition like this, im probably going to do what all my friends have done and vote with my wallet and feet. But i will do this with a heavy heart as i really, really wanted Vanguard to be the one game that would turn out to be the game it sold itself as, a game of 3 spheres, not just another run of the mill MMo. If im gonna play run of the mill, i might as well do it on a game that works. I hope for those that end up staying with vanguard it turns out better for you than it did for me, there is only so much hassle i can put up with before i realise that im paying to get annoyed instead of paying to have fun :( |

I do agree about the crafting however. Though I was never a fan of the bind on equip system in WoW, or the permanent breakage of items in DDO, the current Bindable system in Vanguard isn't working.
There's absolutely no reason to soulbind a 10g heroic crafted item, it's far cheaper just to summon your corpse and pair the repair bill, besides, if you can afford crafted gear like that then you're probably not the type to die/summon anyways. What's going to happen a year from now, when these items are still in the game? Boats, heroic crafted armor and weapons, all made in the first 3 months, will still be around. Guilwars had a decent system, you could 'Customize' a weapon to yourself, which gave it a 20% damage boost, but then you couldn't sell/trade it to another player after that. You also ran the risk of breaking the weapon when you tried to Salvage certain pieces off of it. Lineage II had a similar system for weapons, were there was a chance of it permanently being destroyed when you tried to upgrade the damage on it. I think boats need to go the way the horseshoes did, craft, sell once. You should also be able to allow a crafter to somehow 'decon' a Soulbound item, perhaps it could be traded, but not equipped?
