Default 4-5 hours = broke again for tanks.

Haven't seen any threads on this so I'm really hoping im just "bugged" but didn't any tanks notice that decay seems to be right back to the speed it used to be?

Was crawling graystone and right about the time we got to the very bottom I looked at my gear because all of a sudden I seemed to be getting my butt kicked. Turns out my BP was at 0 and so were my legs. Weapon was at 18%.

All this in about 4-5 hours from 100% starting durabiltiy.

Can anyone else confirm this?

4-5 hours is pretty good and seems about right.... my tank used to break in ~2. Bring along some of the Repair Things that crafters make.

I can't agree that 4-5 hours is good.

Heres how saturday went for me. Repaired full from night before 30silver. not bad.

Crawled to bottom of graystone realised I was getting my butt kicked all of a sudden so I checked my gear. BP and legs both 0%, Graystone greataxe 18%. Most of the rest of my main gear in the mid 20's.

We clear a nice little corner and then the sorcer and myself drop group and evac so that I can go repair my gear while the rest of the group waits and hopes there is no respawn.

We get back, CoH in keep fighting for about another 4 hours and bam, same thing my gear is already broke, yet again. I was really hoping the first time was a bug. This time we just all evac out and I go off to repair at the little outpost. 35silver this time.. I can live with that.. I guess.

We pick up all those now grey quests from inside the little outpost and proceed to murder the greybies needed to complete them. Wrapped up all those quests in about 2.5 hours. I'm now at roughly 40% durability yet again.

We all finsih turning in the quests and repair. cost me 14silver this time.

Wife repaired as well as the others in my static group for the first time allday. She is a cleric and was mostly at 80% on her items same with rest of the group, mostly in the mid to high 80's. Cost her 4silver to repair and roughly the same for the rest of my group.

So I ask you how it can "seem about right" that I should have to repair 3 times in one day of XP at a cost of 79silver while the rest of my group repaired 1 time in roughly 11 hours for 4 silver?

Having the tanks take these rediculous durability hits is a horribly flawed idea. After reaching the bottom of a dungeon where you spent about 3+ hours clearing you should never have to make a choice to either switch to your crap gear or go repair.

MMO's have always been very Item based games. people love thier shiny's. Having to put on crap gear or go repair every 4-5 hours is moronic.

If your gear is breaking in one session thats bullshit. Personally I've never had too much trouble, but yesterday I did notice my gear dropped to 40's after about 3 hours.

I think the whole thing needs to be scrapped myself, but I'd put 8 hours as my target if they insist on keeping it in.

Now 8 hours I could live with. Thats like saying after a full days work you need to repair. Makes sense to me.

The way it is now is more like having to repair after half a workday. So i don't get to take a lunch, instead I have to go find an armorer to reapir my stuff.

to be honest be glad its not the same shit we had to deal with back in the day. My gear would break in less than 2 hours, it was impossible to crawl any dungeon at all.

The other night we spent 5 hours in rahz inkur mauling the place and i was at 92% durability, we actually sat in vent saying how when you can go a week between repairs whats the point of having it?

So to sum up my point, their still trying to find a happy medium, give them a few tries.

I'm sure you are right, which is actualy the intended point of this post. I'd suggest to post your agreement/disagreement to it's current state to give them an idea of where it stands atm.

I would say the previous version was just too good to be true. Might as well have just gotten rid of it all together as it did not realy cost any money and gear would last forever.

if it's true intent is to be a money sink I would like to see it eventualy remove the durability loss from taking damage component which discriminates againts the tanks. If it is supposed to be a money sink then it should apply to all adventureres evenly.

If it is meant to be a realistic implimentation then I would like to see it simply reduced to a point of roughly 8-10 hours of adventuring before you need to repair. As far as the eonomy side of things if this was the reality then I would assume just like in other MMO's tanks would be given a small amount of extra trash to sell in order to recover thier excessive expenses or what have you.

Maybe even another idea to hopefully let players gain the ability to repair thier own gear through the use of hammers sort of like in oblivion and put a cost on those items. So we would have to skill up the required amounts and also spend the money required to purchase these hammers (which would need to stack in a large number).

This would eliminate which IMO is the worst part of the current situation and thats having to leave a group to go repair.

I noticed an above poster reffered to something that may be in the game along these lines but was reffered to as if crafters made them. I would suggest these being vendor sold at a higher cost than that of which crafters would normaly sell them as to make sure they are readily available even if the cost is higher from the vendor.

Make item decay based on exp or "would be exp" in case of grey kills to make it fair to everyone involved :P

it used to be apparently based on ability usage, which made sense considering from what i gathered from discussions the reason drk's broke so much faster was due to the fact that each tick of DC increase counted as an ability tick.

However now it doesnt seem to be damage baesd at all due to the fact that the dps i group with seem to break faster than mine.

Thats odd, I have not noticed that. I group with the same group everyday and the ranger/sorcere are always 90%+ when I'm already having to repair with a couple items being broken and most others in the 40% range.

It seems now that consistantly my BP, legs and weapon break about 40% faster than my other gear.

While that is realistic it is just too fast still. Doubling the amount of time it takes to decay would be about right IMO. That would give it an average of 8-10 hours before having to repair or switch gear for me anyways.
