Well, I want to start this to help gain insight and share experiences on the progression folks are having in their diplomacy.
I am at a point where it seems that I have hit as much of the beginning diplomacy quests around the Tursh Village area. I've been hammering away on the civic diplomacy. I have found a couple of other quests, but my influence is way too low (e.g. merchant requires influence of 25 - I'm slightly underdressed). At the same time, my New Targanon influence is around 360ish, but I can't get anything in the city - Nice place, but not much going on there; my attempts to find quests or anything were met with blank stares. My faction with the dwarves is around 5200, but they won't even let me play with their alternative hair styles yet. I feel like I'm missing something here, missing something in this whole diplomacy sphere. So anyhow, I'd like to get some discussions going on that share your experiences in diplomacy and what you're finding out there: quests, cards, techniques, great moments of epiphany. And...AND, what the heck do the blue numbers mean behind the parley type? Post freely lets get this stuff out there.

There aren't too many diplomacy quests right now. I think there are about 30-40 all told other than the beginner quests. However, they are steadily adding content and have some great things in store for us. Essentially most of the T3 and above stuff is missing, such as the info loot tables(so you can't turn in T3 info to brokers right now). I am actually working on the last 2 missions I know of tonight and there is still one other where I need to get soldier presence up to about 40 before I can hit it(you can't wear a shirt influence item during the parlay, so my +33 soldier shirt is worthless :(. )
If you want to find diplo quests, you'll need to travel to other continents and find them. If you go to vgtact.com, they have a listing if you want specific quests. I think there is one writ that is currently in game right now, but they have many more planned. It's only give to level 200+ diplomats as far as I know. The blue number after the parlay type is the skill level of diplomacy. In civic parlay, you can't engage in the parlay if you are more than 49 less than that number(i.e, a 150 diplomat can't parlay a 200 skill NPC). Also, the higher the difference of skill between the player and NPC, the higher the influence difference is. So as a 152 diplomat and parlaying a 200 level NPC, I start out with 15 influence I need to get to 1 and the NPC starts out with 7-9 influence. So it's very easy to lose to a higher NPC, especially if they've got some harsh cards. Last edited by Jobarra : 02-15-2007 at 01:53 PM. |

There's a quest at the horse track in Qalia, requires 50 academic presence. I've been spending the last week whenever I can get away from adventuring working on academic presence. I'm one point away, not sure what to do after that -- I'll probably take Job's advice and try to find some nearby quests.
But to your real topic, Job's right -- diplomacy just isn't anywhere near finished. I'm just working on skilling up and earning presence while I wait on more content and learn the possibilities.

Well, presence for the most part on most of the quests right now can be easily taken care of with some T2 clothing. Of course, you need to win alot of parleys for the info for the clothing, so you might as well skill up and get presence in the area that you need. Soldier, Domestic, and Academic are the most used presences that I've seen so far. I know some of the new T2 and T3 quests use some outrageous Domestic presence requirements.
