Takes too long to access this forum
It takes quite some time before you can access this page through the main page. The load time and the rather "heavy" content.
I know some people will just ignore the main page and bookmark directly to the forums. But I doubt ALL will do that for their reasons.... Don't you think this will mean, that a number of players will not use this forum? Apart from this, the site and the forums look great. Nice colors and combinations. Thumbs up. |

An interesting point, Saen. I can definitely see where you're coming from. My connection loaded it by the time I'd switched tabs, but I can definitely see how the content on the frontpage could make a dial-up connection cry.
Possibly a low-bandwidth choice at the frontpage. Seems the simplest option, if the heavy frontpage does become an issue. |

Yea. My main concern is, that it will simply scare off inexperienced people or people that are technically limited to a slow computer or internet connection.

Well, though I'd agree with you, if you can manage to set up a Vanguard account and have a good enough computer to run it, more than likely the flash stuff won't scare them off. The music did take a longer time than I'd have thought for such a simple sound file to load up though....

I was thinking about that too, and to be honest, my bookmark does in fact go directly to these forums. I don't have any good ideas to remedy it either to be honest, without scrapping the flash.
Maybe for starters make the audio optional - meaning don't download the audio unless the user explicitly clicks 1 2 or 3 on the right side of the flash. |

The frontpage basically acts as an introduction to the forums. It won't have any major updates or hard hitting information, that is basically up to the other fansites to provide that information.
I would suggest that if you can't stand viewing the frontpage or the loading to bookmark the forums since that is what this website is basically all about. The frontpage is just eyecandy for those that see that this website has style and character. |
