If the official forums where going to stay open then there wouldn't be this site. So you can say I may be biased to the opinion that I'm glad the forums are going away...

Other than that, I would take community ran sites over corporate ran sites any day of the week. I would even take the pepsi challenge.

Vanguard Rangers ftw

When the devs are busy, it is up to the class and community leads to filter information and report what is really going on. That is why a lot of MMOs have class leaders/correspondents. The only real difference is that pathetic drama/problems on boards will be fixed quickly. And the threads that do need attention will get the attention that they need to.

I'm already tired of checking 4 forums.

It's part of their job, iirc.

I'd be willing to bet that what'll happen is that they'll be several community relations people who's main job will be to look at the affiliate sites and will help synthesize community feedback and direct the devs to important topics. Though I'm sure that the devs will get bored from time to time and go surf the various sites on their own.

As a dev for another piece of software thats what I do with our support personal.

One thing to consider is using RSS feeds to check the various sites. If the admin doesn't have them turned on, ask them to. Then you can check a bunch of sites at one time a lot easier.
