Crashed to Desktop a.k.a. Unrecoverable Error

To any with a concern,

I realize this game was pushed out early, and we are in Beta 6 (or launch of game as some call it), but this is ridiculous. Multiple times per hour, at least 5 times per day and often quite a bit more, I see my game freeze up and vanish. Then I am sitting at the **Unrecoverable Error** msg on my screen, with WinXP asking rhetorically if I want to report it.

If anyone has a clue for a temp fix, beyond deleting the *.ini file, please donate them here, as I would testify this is a common occurence. Strangely enough, I fail to recall this happening more than once in Beta 5 phase after almost a week of play.

I'm pretty sure the report is for Vanguard, not Windows. And I've only experienced this once.

My suggestion would be to check your drivers, make sure everything is updated properly. Download a program called Driver Cleaner, and download either the same version video card drivers your using now, or newer, but dont install. Restart, run driver cleaner on your specific video card a few times, restart, do it again 2 or 3 times, then restart again and install the video card driver, and restart. Seems like a pain in the ass but it fixed a similar issue for a different game on another computer I had.

At what point does it crash? Anything in particular you're doing that might be causing it to crash? I know a lot of the time there are problems when crossing chunk lines.

I find I only CTD when I mess with video settings. Reverting back to a previous setting helps.

Just a thought.
