Default Deconstruction for rares :(

As a harvester it is very disatisfying knowing crafters are mass deconstructing items for rares. It almost makes my job pointless. The rares should be provided for by harvesters plain and simple or get rid of harvesting all together. There is a crafting guild on my server that does mass decon to get rares and it ruins the market and makes harvesting almost pointless. Please lower the decon rate for rares or even better get rid of it all together.

Well rumor has it that the rares being yielded from the deconstruct reflect the level of the crafter not the item deconstructed. I don't know if this has been fixed but it is a horrible exploit if it is still going on. For example: Level 33 crafter deconstructs a level 12 item. Instead of yeilding a Tier 2 rare resource the crafter will recieve a Tier 4 rare resource. I hope this has been fixed, but it might be what is really going on.

I will say I agree with you though, as a Tier 4 harvester, it does seem fishy how the market reacts to "rares". As much work as it takes to acquire a Tier 4 rare, prices of less then one gold on the broker do seem to support that the deconstruct bug may be alive and well.

I don't know anyone in our guild that decons for rare resources. One of our guild requirements is to keep your harvesting up, so rare materials are (somewhat) readily available.

What's not easy to get however, is the dusts/orbs/etc to actually make the better items (like dusts of Striking).

I don't know if decon'ing still results in a skewed tier rare resource, but I do know that when I'm looking for T2 Orbs of Pure Magic to craft bows, I can decon level 5 Crossbows and manage to get them. By the same token, decon'ing a level 35 bow with the Amateur decon recipe will only yield T2 rares.
