Tank/BM, IMO.

DPS from BM is sweet (our group's BM is getting 5k crits while I'm getting 2.5k crits with a 2hander) and often works to heal the tank or the BM as required. BMs tend to have a lot of other nice utility spells which could help the duo get to places a Cleric couldn't get them (invis, levitate, summon) and they can fall back on Charm if they need to.

Why a Dreadknight specifically? (curious - I haven't had a chance to group with mant Dreadknights)

BM and Ranger. No dou will cut through 3 dot faster.

Warrior/Shaman is a pretty spiffy combo as well.

Shamans seem to be setup as endurance type healers (they can heal for longer periods of time). With my shaman buddy, we've taken out purple 2 and 3 dots 8 levels higher than us. Sometimes it takes a while to kill things, but you feel unkillable.

If you want to complete the small group/group content as a permanent duo, then I'd suggest Bard/Shaman (Bear).

The Bard gives you the flexibility to Invis around some of the areas that a duo couldn't hope to fight through, as well as a steady stream of DPS and tanking ability, while the Shaman with the bear is an excellent endurance healer, with the Bear being able to tank the more difficult 5/6 dot quest mobs.

You basically want an Offensive Fighter for the DPS, who can reasonably tank. Rangers and Bards have the best parry in game, though you can't beat the utility of a Bard when it comes to non-kill/collection/location update quests. Not to mention the reduced travel times :) Just think of all the money you'll save not having to buy T3 horses and boats!

I haven't tried enough combo's to claim any as the best, but my wife and I do great with warrior and disciple combo, her FD has really saved our butts in a lot of situations that got ugly.

Bard + Sorcerer

Me (42sorcerer) and friend (42bard) duo... his song gives me basically unlimited mana and amazing spell damage.

By my last chaos volleys im hitting for 20-30k and we can duo any mobs...

we both killed a 45 5dot yesturday... easily, and im sure we can take harder!
