Please stop the trivial slide
Devs,
I want to post my thoughts on a slide of the game to becoming trivial. First I want you to know that I am enjoying the game, even with the rocky release I am having fun and think VG has more potential then any MMO.
However it is quickly sliding into trivial territory.
Now that classes are working, and DPS for most is unimmaginable, fights are becoming, no all ready are, trivial. Completetly trivial. We have people soloing 5 and 6 dot mobs, trios killing whole areas of 4 and 5 dot mobs that are red with out breaking a sweat and a solid group of 4 feels boring anywhere. A solid trio can kill 5 dot named 4-5 level above theirs with out any worry of death, come on, and we are not even geared that great.
It must stop, the slide must be stopped. Your con system makes little sense, no one should be soloing 4 dot, and 5 and 6 dot named? what is the point of a class structure if you don't need one? What is the point of a group centric game if you don't need one?
You must fix the game mechanics, I am not asking for nerfing of any or all classes, but a fix of mobs, make them use more class specific abilities and spells, an immediate rise in mob HP by 50% or more must be done from 4 dots up. even 3 dot should get 25+ rise.
The game is starting to really take shape, but if things don't change, it will be no fun, no challenge, just a mash feast and race to the closest 6 dot any one can solo. Now if VG was marketed as a soloist dream, I would be fine with that (of course I wouldnt be here), but it wasn't. But how can one claim group centric when you dont even need one? My god we now have posts of whiners that due to last patch cant solo 5-6 dot named anymore, WTH? why were they able to in the beginning?
1-2 dot mobs shoudl be soloable by all of course.
3 dot should be realyl good soloist and dous.
4 dot should be trios and other small groups.
5 dot should be challenge for a 5-6 person group.
6 dot should be a challenge for a 6 person well rounded very well geared group.
But thats not even close to the case.
The trivial slide to VG is now its greatest failing, with so much fixed, with the gaem, finally reaching a near release state, with so much now working, the very core of the game is at risk.
When a trio come accross a 5 level higher 5 dot named, we should stand in awe, not just hammer in and think "gee this will take a bit longer".
Before its too late, before the game gets compared with those other easy kiddy games, before there is no need to even be at the keyboard to win fights, make the changes, adjust the game, make it fun and challenging. make it require more attention then solitaire.
Level speed is also a serious issue, or quest drops need to be upped. I either out level areas before I have any chance of completeing quests (CW comes to mind as the first and only grind in VG i have experienced). We level so fast that the dungeons became boring, when not bugged and thelassen as a zone engaged in self genocide anyway. I spent 28 to 38 to get all of tier 1 and 1 teir 2 armor handins done. Now that we moved on, since same level mobs are boring and eas,y I have replaced 1 of my teir 1 items and do not need the rest of teir 2 and got a BP that is comparable to the CW one. Wow, lets see, month+ of faction grind and fun dungeoning (yes I so love your dungeons) to find it wasn't all that great, and the drops so rare with every one fighting for same candles runes and books, not to mention the all but seen armor drops. Whats worse is, we dare not break from a dungeon, we dare not do to much soloing or will out level the content, by simply becoming the same level as the mobs. CW represnts the worst in a game and I rarely use the word grind. I love to exlore dungeons and do the quests, but to have to spend weeks on weeks on weeks to get faction only to out level the area long before I got the drops for tier 2 let alone tier 3 or the weapon quest? We hate to be bored so we move on to areas 4-5 level above us, to find a challenge.
There so much right in VG, so much content, man I could have 3 characters and never do the same dungeon or quest are twice. Thats amazing. The dungeons are so expansive, so many good quests. VG has me filled with wonderlust, just want to see whats over the next hill, around the next mountian, what is one thta isle out there?
Vanguard is a good game waiting to be great. But if the trivial slide continues.....
