Default Question about RAM upgrades...

I am running a 3.6Ghz pentium with 1GB of ram, using 2x512 chips. I bought the computer about 2 and half years ago (Dell Demension XPS GEN 3).

The question I have is, I have 6 ram slots and I purchased 2x1GB chips (Newegg.com - CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail) to upgrade, will there be a problem with putting the 2x1GB chips in the first 2 slots and the 2x512's in the 3rd and 4th slot for 3gigs, or would I have to remove the 512 all together limiting my total ram to the 2GB I just bought.

It should work, but I was curious before I have the RAM and I don't want the computer to read the 2x512's and reach a lower estimated reading on the 2x1GB versions making it run as though I have 2GBs over 4 slots.

Thanks for any Info.
